"Who do you say that I am?" Jesus once asked his followers that very question. Their response indicated their level of belief after spending months with Him. Today Jesus asks us the same question. Who do you say Jesus is?
Jesus is God While Jesus was here on earth, there was much confusion about who He was. Some said He was a prophet or a wise man. Jesus told us exactly who He was in John 10:30 when He said, "I and the Father are One." Jesus is God.
Jesus is Holy God is absolutely and completely Holy and will not tolerate any evil. Because Jesus is God, He is also Holy. While Jesus was here on earth He lived without sin. God also requires holiness of us. 1 Peter 1:16 says, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."
Jesus is our Savior Our failure to obey God at all times places us in danger of eternal punishment. The Bible calls our disobedience "sin" and Romans 3:23 says that, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." The punishment for our sin is death, but in order to save us, God sent Jesus down to earth in human form to walk among us, teach , and pay the price for our sin. John 3:16 says, "God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life."
Jesus is the Way Some people think that there are many paths to eternal life. But Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me" (John 14:6). Belief in Jesus is the only way to God and heaven.
Jesus is Lord In order to accept God's gift of eternal life through Jesus, we have to acknowledge that we are sinners and need a savior. Next, we have to believe that Jesus is God and that He died to take the penalty for our sins. Once we come to that realization and repent from our sins, we make Jesus the Lord of our lives. Romans 10:9 says, "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved." When you call Jesus Lord, you agree to submit to His authority and your life reflects a change.
Jesus is the Judge All who reject Jesus as their Lord and Savior will one day face Him as their Judge: "God is now declaring to men that all everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead" (Acts 17:30-31).
Who do you say Jesus is? If you're ready to call Him Lord, follow the steps below.
1- Awknowledge that you are a sinner. Realize that you can do nothing to save yourself. Romans 3:23
2- Realize that God wants to offer me help and hope. John 10:10
3- Repent of your sins. Acts 3:19
4- Believe that Jesus came to save you from your sins and ask Him to be Lord of your life. Acts 16:31
