Dear St. Simons United Methodist Church Family, 

We, the Finance and Trustees Committees, write you today to ask you to invest in Maintaining the Mission of St. Simons United Methodist Church. Explained below is the plan to meet our current needs and a plan for our needs in the future!
 
 

STEP 1 – Fund the immediate needs – $300,000

The immediate needs and the quotes for these projects are as follows: 

  • Roofing of the Sanctuary, Chapel, & Adult Education Building $ 88,000
  • Elastomeric Painting & Sealing of All Church Buildings $ 165,000
  • Front of Church Drainage Work $ 10,000
  • Add a Catch Basin in Front of Church for Drainage $ 20,000
  • Improve Signage $ 5,000
  • New Doors & Replace Wooden Doors in Gholson Room $ 12,000   
  • TOTAL  $ 300,000
These most pressing and time sensitive needs come to a total estimated cost of $300,000, well above the $40,000 allotted to the maintenance budget each year. 
 
 

STEP 2 – Pay off the Line of Credit and allocate the budgeted funds for the future needs – $80,000

The Line of Credit is $100,000, budgeted to be paid back over the next three years annually at $33,000. 

Repairs included: Elevator refurbish in the Stubbs building, and Chapel roofing and steeple repairs, as well as other flat roof repairs around the Sanctuary.

If the Line of Credit is paid in full, approximately $80,000 (balance to date), we can then use this budgeted money equaling an annual amount of $33,000 to fund the Maintenance and Repair Reserve fund. This will be in addition to the budgeted amount of $40,000. This will increase the building repair and maintenance annual amount to $73,000 per year. This amount per year will alleviate the past issue of funding the building maintenance repairs needed moving forward. 
 
 

Step 3 – Establish the Maintenance and Repair Reserve Fund – $70,000 

Establish the Maintenance and Repair Reserve Fund for maintaining our beautiful church in the future! This fund would not be a part of our annual budget and could be given to separately as a lasting legacy. This Reserve Fund would help keep our church maintained and beautiful for the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ. 

 

The total for Maintaining the Mission is $450,000.

Make a One-time Gift

This gift—above and beyond your current giving—can be made via IRA distribution (tax free), stocks, bonds, check, or online. 

Your Monthly Commitment 

You may choose to make a monthly commitment and distribute your gift over the next 6 months through February 2023. 

Whether you choose to make a one-time gift along with a monthly commitment or choose one of the above methods, your generosity will allow our church to Restore, Renew, and Rejoice! 

Enclosed you will find an envelope where you can mark your commitment or mail in your donation!

Please include Maintaining the Mission in the Memo or Note of the donation or transaction.
