Church on the Lawn 8-22-21

Church on the Lawn | August 22, 2021

We had not planned on making this shift, but trusting God and taking one step at a time in faith, we hosted Church on the Lawn yesterday, and it was great!

What was it like?

Many, many people arrived before 9:00am when we started the service. Everyone was very excited to be together, and being outside fostered that environment of camaraderie! This year has been a rollercoaster, and finding ways for us to spend time with one another as the body of Christ is critical.

Tom spoke about the need to find ways to serve others when we are feeling down. I believe we served each other by being present in worship out on the lawn yesterday, fostering our faith with “psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,” (Eph 5:19) as we met together.

Let’s continue to find ways to “Be The Church” together as we continue to learn how to walk in faith. We do not know what tomorrow brings, but we can pray and support our schools, and hospitals, and neighbors – one day at a time!

Here’s what to know for Next Sunday – August 29, 2021:

  1. Worship is on the East Lawn of the Church, just off Ocean Blvd.

  2. We will begin at 9:00am

  3. Come with your chair and fellowship together

  4. Invite a friend

Life Lessons From a Pandemic

“Life Lessons from a Pandemic” a Sermon Series

We will begin a three-week sermon series on “Life Lessons from a Pandemic.” All of us can agree that it has been a year like no other. Practically everything we considered routine was disrupted. Our relationships, jobs, and schools; the ways we shopped and were entertained; and yes, even our churches were all forced to adjust to new ways of doing things.
We can truly see the light at the proverbial end of the tunnel and what a blessing it is!
We thank God for the science that has made it possible to create vaccines to help control the virus. We have just experienced a holiday weekend that seemed as close to normal as anything we have done since the onset on COVID-19.
Now we begin to plan for life after the pandemic. As we do we have to ask: “What are we thankful for? What did we learn about ourselves and one another? How will our lives be different after the pandemic? What’s next?”

Over three Sundays we will address these questions and more in the following sermons:

June 6 | Psalm 30:2, 11-12 | “Unexpected Gifts”

June 13 | Romans 5:3-5 | “How Have We Changed?”

June 20 | Acts 2:42-47 | “The Gift of Each Other”

I hope you will plan to join us in worship and invite someone to come with you. I look forward to seeing you at the Church!
